Malati Kadam
There is a thought steeped into the Kadam family through generations - The earth
and its offerings are meant to be worshipped first and then consumed in the most
mindful manner.
So, naturally when Malati Kadam and her son, Ravi Kadam came across the vast
acreage that is adiKa today, they had a solitary vision for it. To take a barren land
and create a wondrous habitat for everything that lives and grows, in the most
organic manner. Where life amongst different beings co-exist. Where cultures fuse
into one another.
And where the world becomes one, and thus awe-inspiring.
After three decades of working as an Urban
Designer, I felt my calling to connect with
mother earth stronger than ever before.
This led me to the birth of adiKa.
What was once a barren plot at
Pargaon has slowly become my most
fulfilling project, as I shape every part
of the land with my passion to give
back to the planet.
The first of many developments that
we undertook at adiKa was the
stream restoration, which changed
the course of the water into a wooded
stream with three water bodies,
altering the microclimate as well as
the fauna at the site,
for the better.
Along with that, the orchards and the
nursery have been a meaningful
addition to turn the property
as an activity and economic generator,
which will keep fuelling the other
areas of the land in the times to come.
As a vision for the future of adiKa, I
hope that one day this humble land
will see city dwellers migrate here for
a better life, surrounded by nature,
living their dream.
Until then, I am dedicated to
contributing my efforts to make this
land into a celebration of life that we
look forward to sharing with you.
What started with a simple story of having a
cow at the farm, led the Kadams to build an
entire ecosystem around it.

About ten years ago, when the family first moved to Pargaon, they were introduced to a tiny
shed on the land, which hosted a modest thatched roof shelter with a beautiful jersey cow
named Mala. Mala happily grazed in the area and fed off the dry grass that grew around. What
was truly marvelous though, was that she wasn’t just living on the land, but rearing the soil as
well. And along the way, her bi-products also fertilised the area, provided feed for the birds,
and enriched the ecology around her. In that moment, it reminded the Kadams of the very
cycle of nature which is known to mankind, but often forgotten in the everyday hustle of life.

the basic plan was laid in place, with
